Florence OregonDunes and Ocean on the Oregon Coast |
Florence is situated west of Eugene off of Highway 126 and positioned on the coastline along Highway 101. Between Florence and the ocean lies an extensive area of sand dunes that sometimes reach as high as 300 feet. Other natural highlights include the freshwater lakes, sand dunes and beaches that constitute Jessie Honeyman Memorial State Park.
Each May, Florence celebrates the Rhododendron Festival. This community is also the home of Oregon Coast Magazine.
The district near the Siuslaw River waterfront is called Historic Old Town Florence. It is popular with locals and visitors alike for its restaurants and retail stores.
One of the largest and best communities of manufactured homes on the Oregon Coast is at Florentine Estates. Florence Area Chamber of Commerce has brochures explaining hiking and other recreation in the area.
There is also a Florence, Colorado.
